Staff was attentive, showed compassion and support. They took good care of my fur baby and provided follow-up care that was well explained. Only 4 stars because of the wait. Typical for an emergency room, but I didn’t see a lot of activity while there. Could have been due to protocol and patients were already admitted I appreciated the initial fee though. $200 as apposed to $800 from a different hospital.

I would like to say thank you to all of the staff who helped me and my boyfriend through the process of putting our kitty to rest. They did an amazing job they were very kind, patient, and understanding with us. I couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful experience in such a heartbreaking time.

2/2 due to googles review limit - this is the continuation of the review from Cheyenne Upshaw
Following this she also explained that if I couldn't afford the x-rays then surgery is also off the table. Never not once had she asked about what my budget was or was money ever discussed with her. Next she mentioned my dogs liver values, which have been an ongoing issue and explained blood work would be a good idea. She then told me she assumed these symptoms that brought me in could be advancing liver cancer. Additionally she also said the liver and brain are connected so it would make sense that he was lethargic if that we're the case. I also mentioned that he had two different sized pupils, and she explained his possible liver cancer could have spread to his brain because the liver and the brain are connected. Then she left the room. A little while later a tech, who was the only very helpful and respectful person and I wish I could remember her name because she seemed to be the only caring person there, anyway she came to explain the price breakdown before they proceeded with any care. I've attached the initial quoted fees, which totalled to over $1600. EXCUSE ME. I understand completely that this is an emergency vet, I understand they are significantly more expensive. However, the charges (originally) on this quote were unnecessary for care. Items such as a sedative to give him, which he literally was barely walking and moving around by this point the sedative was completely unnecessary and upon googling the use for it discovered its commonly used in pre-surgical procedures for pain relief, that alone was $42.50. The tech was very kind and explained what each medicine was used for and redid the quote for me after I explained to her I was absolutely not paying over $1600 dollars to get my dog fluids, anti-diarheral, and antibiotics. I never saw the doctor again, never witnessed them ACTUALLY checking my dogs vitals, or doing an exam on him. The only thing them did quickly was after I agreed to pay $650, immediately after that another tech (or finance) came to the room for the low end of our deposit, then she provided the receipt. Following that I waited another 30 or so minutes to get my dog back and then we left with the medication. They also have in fine print that if they have to preform CPR it starts at $584

In the end, I am extremely displeased with the customer service apart from the two individuals I spoke to RIGHT in the beginning. The doctor was extremely lacking compassion and insinuating that I couldn't afford treatment without ever discussing budget, and also continued to interupt me while i was explaing my dogs history and what I WANTED done for his treatment. Following my experience I looked at their other reviews and if I had done that prior to going I wouldn't have. They also have a 1/5 on Better Business Bureau and in my opinion should no longer be operating with most of the staff I interacted with last night. Save your money and sanity and go elsewhere. All of this cost was also including a military discount which totalled to $33 dollars off of and still resulted in me paying $650 for the exam, fluids, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diarheral. All in all if I could get my money back I 100% would and take him elsewhere.

Does your pet have a potentially life threatening health emergency right before Christmas? If you want to make this the year you tell your children Santa doesn’t exist anymore, and that he was replaced by greed, then i recommend taking your pet here. If you do, you won’t worry… in fact you might panic instead. These guys will do their best to help you decide that your loved ones don’t need Xmas gifts, not if you want you furry best friend to live anyways. For example, if in the middle of the night your dog had a horrible tail injury and their spine was starting to expose they will tell you to wait until 6am shift change and then they will only charge you a $200 fee for telling you how much money you need to give them right this instant before they even think of helping. Good thing you only have to pay ALL OF IT IN FULL. And IF you do they will then put it on the schedule while you wait for an operation that hopefully helps your beloved pet. Merry Christmas.

We just had a tremendous experience that turned out well for our pet, Wickett! He’s a 13 lb shitzu-Pom mix. He had some unspecific symptoms that were confusing to us but seemed emergent. We LOVED the vet and our care there! We were told it could possibly be 4-6 hour wait because there were many pets before us but within 2 hours we were checked in, Wickett was seen and we had a consultation and we were given meds and were on our way! Our vet did not rush the consult and listened intently to us describing Wickett’s symptoms. We have NEVER had such good care and compassion shown as we had today! We will not hesitate to go back should the need arise for ER care. It’s so good to know they are there when we need them is so comforting. We realize wait times can get long but so can a trip to the ER for a human. They provide the best care possible for each pet and some problems can take more time than others! Thank you Olympia Emergency Veterinary Clinic!

I was so impressed with many things. We were in need for our cat Cheddar and OPE got us in quickly to evaluate him. Vet Tech, Alexis was so caring, she made Cheddar feel cared for as the team looked him over. The Team and Alexis were clear about cost, explained their options, and provided us time to think it over. Cheddar enjoyed their chicken treat too. Thank you so much OPE!

Our little kitten is healthy and happy thanks to you!

Brought in our kitten who had an infected spay incision and was lethargic and feverish. She had been getting worse all day and I called all the vets in the area but no one else could take her.

I am a student with limited income and was reluctant to pay the elevated rates of an emergency clinic, however it was clear she needed urgent treatment. I ended up paying around $350, which was much less than I feared, and worth every cent.

Vet techs were very kind and knowledgeable. My boyfriend and I waited for many hours for her to be seen, but techs came by periodically to check her vitals, which was very reassuring. After she was examined, the doctor came by to talk through treatment options and their financial feasibility.

When techs brought little Loki to us she was mewing furiously as she protested her new cone. She had been barely able to stand before treatment, and it was incredible to see her so alert. We were also given her antibiotic regimen right then which was amazing. No need to go to a pharmacy!

I received a call later that week checking in on her progress, which was incredibly considerate. Loki's spunk has been restored, her incision is healed, and she spends her days playing happily with her brother.

Thank you Dr Pirie and staff for the treatment and prescribed regimen to bring our boy back from the brink. Many days after no water or food intake, Scotchy is finally doing so. What a great feeling for our family, so very happy.
