The system itself is great but the support is absolutely nonexistent. They send you back to the people who install the lock every time you have an issue and the locksmith will charge you a minimum of $300 every time they visit. The locksmith has never figured out the issue. They just reset the system and wait for it to break again so you can call them back. I wish I can give a better review, but my overall experience has not been great.

Our experience with Openpath is one that another company considering card access should not have to endure. Apparently they did not like my prior review as I was overly aggressive and mentioned our new card access company multiple times and they got google to remove it.

Here are the issues. (I had 2 systems in 2 different cities for roughly 3 years)

1). Their admin panel to administer your system is one of the most confusing admin panels I have ever seen and I use many. There seems to be no common sense in its design as it’s designed for the tech company who installed the system and not your everyday administrator who actually needs to manage users and locations.

2). You do not have the ability program holidays into the system in a logical way. Even though you put in dates, they have to be in a very specific order or they don’t work. We found our doors unlocked on holidays on more than one occasion.

3). You do not have the ability to lock your doors early or immediately. If you close your business early for any reason, the only way to get the doors to lock is if you change the schedule, but that is only if you can find or remember where to change the schedule in their admin panel. If you do change it, you have to go back and change it the next day back to your original settings. There is no temporary override.

4) We tried to have different employees in our company administer the system but failed. We found difficulty in adding new employees, changing schedules etc. Cards would not work when they were supposed to after adding a new employee.

5) they do not answer the phone in any department when you call. However they do respond to Facebook posts, which is a rather interesting way to provide support.

6). Their system did not work often as it kept disconnecting from internet and then our doors stopped working. Not sure if issue was their system or company who installed it. They eventually had to replace the system and then it stayed connected.

I could go on and on with the issues with the system but these were some of the highlights I have since found a new system that does everything and more and I can do most of it from my phone including locking my doors on a temporary override on the fly. We have. Even using the new system for roughly 3 months.

3/18/23 - Follow up after Openpath response. My statements above combined with any other statements are factual based on my experience using Openpath for 3 years and the frustrations that it brought me and my employees. We can demonstrate with historical information in the form of phone records, emails, and invoices about our negative experience with Openpath. If Openpath finds that my real life experience (that can be supported) is defamatory and liable, then I welcome being contacted by their legal department. The amount of money I have spent on their service / equipment combined with their implementation partner to then have a very stressful user experience is not something any user should have when they are paying for something.

Had the opportunity to install an Openpath system and honestly it was one of the smoothest transitions I've had in a cutover. It was my first time working with Openpath but the overall setup, functionality, programming, and especially the support was phenomenal. We worked together pretty frequently for a while there and honestly it got to feeling like I was working with friends.

I still occasionally need to reach out and every time I do, the support and service has been stellar. Glad to have the chance to express it on a public forum.

Keep up the good work, guys! Love it and very excited to work with this system again, hopefully soon!

Update to there response: I am told I am only allowed to use the installer listed on our account and I have informed your support, Chris about the issues but he does nothing. How can you be a wholesaler but not make your installers give support or if they don’t let us switch to another installer that will actually do the work. But keep in mind we were already with on that didn’t respond to us for over a year and then responded after several attempts to corporate.

The support is terrible, they sign you up and get your initial set up then there Is no support after. There installers in Missouri don’t return calls and don’t show up, then when you tell Chris Brio and corporate he tells me they have provide a quote. So I’m confused who they provided it to as I am the customer so why would I lie when I’m trying to spend more money with them?

Support is on point and very understanding. It's a new system my company is using and having easy access to their techs has saved us waisting time. The system itself is also simple to use and setup and convenient for both our needs and our customers

We use Open Path at The Study Lounge, a tutoring center for teens. The kids think the app is amazing and we love the sense of safety and security it provides. It’s super techie, but simple to use. The support team is awesome although truthfully the only time we’ve needed them was for user (aka my) error!

Openpath is being used for parking control for two new overhead doors that were installed at our downtown parking garage. Our door vendor walked me through the set-up process and said if I have any questions use the Openpath support because they are the most knowledgeable group about their product than any other support group across any industry. And I agree!

Warning to potential resellers! They solicited my firm to sell their products. We already carry several lines of access control, but agreed. After about a year, they sent us a cancellation and did not cite a reason. So our monthly recurring for Openpath clients has been stolen! Also terrible portal and billing is a mess. We've been in business 35 years and I've never had this kind of an experience. The are so many other options out there--steer clear!
