I went with a couple of friends late on Friday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend. I enjoyed the openness of the space.

When we first arrived, it was not too crowded, but we noticed some folks hanging out on blankets on the grass. It turned out they were there for a free outdoor movie later that evening.

My first time at the KC/the REACH was phenomenal to say the least. Very kind staff. A very educational yet entertaining event series (REACH to Forest). I went solo and loved every minute of it. Will definitely be back! The photos speak for themselves!

Parking at garage is $20+ (you have to get it day prior to your event!). I experimented with different travel options & one day I took the metro from Montgomery County, the next couple times I drove and found cheaper parking nearby. They have a free shuttle that picks up/drops off people from/to Foggy Bottom station! Runs every 15 minutes.

The REACH at Kennedy Center is an outdoor venue with three pavilions to accommodate community gatherings, movie screenings, and picnics. The area is surrounded by lush greenery and large sculptures and is open to the public for free during non-event times. The name "REACH" was inspired by John F. Kennedy's vision of freeing artists to explore creative open spaces beyond traditional walls.

Came here for the Kennedy Centers sunset series. There was a live DJ, a dance floor, and two bars serving alcohol. Plenty of seating available inside, outside at picnic tables, and on the grass. Drinks were sort of pricey. The bathrooms were very clean. People didn't start dancing until around 10 and it was fairly empty early on

Cool! Art park open to the public, with open spaces, art installations, pools (you can only dip your toes in), cafe and event spaces. Over looks the Potomac, with great views of Rosalyn. It is located over the new Kennedy center parking lots, which are convenient BUT pricey.

We parked here ($25/day) and walked along the river trail to National Mall and Cherry Blossom Festival. We had a picnic by the swan statue but only went inside to the bathrooms without visiting. But it looked very neat in and out.

Later when we came back, we walked thru the streets, where you would see a lot of homeless tents. I would suggest that you still walk back along the river.

We saw some shuttle buses going to JFK Center, not sure where they connected to. Next time I will check it out.
